Launched in Glasgow six months ago, Luna Records will showcase two of its biggest artists at this year’s Celtic Connections Festival when Chris Difford - the award-winning solo artist, songwriter and former member of Squeeze - and Glasgow/Melbourne country combo The Maryhillbillys perform a free early evening concert (doors open at 4.45pm) on Sunday 22nd January in the Clyde Suite of The Royal Concert Hall. And right after the gig, Chris Difford will pop along to the Beanscene coffee and music house on Woodlands Road to perform in-store at 8pm Luna Records will release Chris Difford’s ‘South East Side Story’ CD/DVD, featuring acoustic arrangements of such favourite Squeeze tracks as ‘Tempted’, ‘Up the Junction’, ‘Cool for Cats’ and ‘Black Coffee in Bed’ as well as a selection of new solo material, in March 2006.
The Maryhillbillys, meanwhile, play Celtic Connections as part of a whirlwind U.K tour promoting their debut single ‘Goddam He Thinks He’s Elvis’, released on Luna Records on 9th January 2006. Following hot on the heels of the single the band’s debut album, ‘Meet The Maryhillbillys’, is released on Luna on 6th February 2006. The band will be previewing the album in-store at Beanscene Woodlands Road, Glasgow on Monday 23 January and at Beanscene, Holyrood Road, Edinburgh on Tuesday 24 January.
